Gulf to Bay Sotheby's International Realty Sponsor the Boca Grande Historical Society’s 2021 Virtual House Tour

Island Icons: Places and People (Historic Tour of Homes)

Virtual Tour

This one of a kind virtual event will allow you to see inside homes that may never have been on view before. When you purchase an online ticket you receive a link to access the tours. You’ll note on the upper left side of your screen the introduction to the film along with a series of eight segments featuring the different historical homes and stories.  You can watch all of them in sequence or view a few and come back later for the rest.  Or pick and choose just those that interest you!!  Save the link so you can revisit at leisure.  The program will available for a month for those who’ve book the tour through the BGHS.

This year's Island Icons: Places and People includes the following:

Start at the Crowninshield pool pavilion and stable now a beautiful residence.

Visit the Temptation and its murals depicting the fifties in Boca Grande.

See the Whitewash Alley house that’s been home to six generations of island families.

And Whiddens – a marina, a dance hall and now a maritime museum.

Go back almost a hundred years to the stories of Henry Francis du Pont and family.

Learn about the Quarantine House built in 1895 and probably the oldest still lived-in house on the Island.

Register here to get your ticket and the Video Link for this virtual event or call the History Center at 964-1600. Tickets are $30 for Society members, $50 for non-members.

Your ticket price will go to furthering the History Center’s exhibits and archival activities, supporting free history lectures for the general public, the History Byte program (in 2022) and the “Florida History Alive” presentations for students at The Island School.
